You must submit a permit application to Maplewood if an individual wishes to construct, enlarge, alter, or demolish a structure. If you wish to build a new patio, you will require a construction permit from Maplewood. Per Maplewood’s website, you would need to complete and submit the application completely and leave it in the drop box at the Park Road side entrance of Town Hall. The town will email you if they need additional documentation to process your application through plan review.

After they complete the plan review, they will notify you the permit fee. You can leave the permit fee in the drop box, with a check or money order made out to “Township of Maplewood.” Once your application is processed and your payment is received, they will email you a permit allowing you to begin work, and also, they will mail you a paper copy of the permit via regular mail.

Please be aware that State law mandates that the Construction Official issue a fine of up to $2,000 per violation and penalty to any person who performs work without a permit.
